January 5, 2015: In partnership with Toledo Community Foundation, the Anderson Foundation recently awarded grants totaling $59,991 to three area nonprofit organizations. Earlier this year, the Board of Trustees of the Anderson Foundation partnered with the Toledo Community Foundation to release a new funding opportunity to area nonprofit organizations providing services that are aligned with the goals of Aspire.
Under this special request for proposals, grants were awarded to the following organizations:
• Adelante, Inc. - $22,991 to support the Leamos Juntos early literacy intervention.
• Catholic Club - $17,000 to support kindergarten readiness workshops and enhanced technology tools for early childhood education classrooms.
• The University of Toledo Foundation - $20,000 to support the Reach Out and Read program.
According to the Toledo Community Foundation, Inc. “Aspire is a collective impact partnership that convenes community leaders around a common ‘cradle to career readiness’ agenda. It connects service providers, citizens, researchers, educators and business leaders around the common goal of helping children become healthy, caring, responsible adults. One of Aspire’s five key outcomes is that all children in Lucas County enter kindergarten ready to succeed.”
