13-week Speaker Series: Local travelers to recount their adventures

Dec. 31, 2014: MetroParks and Maumee Valley Adventurers are offing the opportunity to travel vicariously around the globe this winter during 13 consecutive Saturdays in January, February, and March, 2015. The annual Travel Circle series features a different local speaker each week at 2:15 p.m. in various Metroparks locations. Admission is free. A walk or ski precedes each talk at 1 p.m.

This year, speakers will present photos and narration about their travels to Norway, Italy, Tasmania, Mongolia, Ireland, Greece, and elsewhere. Others will recount a sailing adventure aboard a clipper ship and canoeing Isle Royal.

Travel Circle is a partnership between Metroparks and Maumee Valley Adventurers, an all-volunteer non-profit organization formed two years ago by members of the former Hostelling International-Toledo Area Council. MVA advocates for low-cost travel and outdoor recreation for all people and is best known for sponsoring four annual bicycle tours, weekly walks or rides and other activities.
