Gabriel García Márquez, a Nobel Prize-winning author who passed away earlier this year, is famous for his One Hundred Years of Solitude and Love in the Time of Cholera. A native of Colombia, he has been called the most significant Spanish-language author since Miguel de Cervantes, the 16th-century author of the classic Don Quixote and one of the great writers in Western literature.
