Lorain: United Way of Greater Lorain County (UWGLC) gathers community and business volunteers for a week’s worth of volunteer projects to support UWGLC’s work in community impact areas of education, income, health, and basic needs.
Each fall since 1993, UWGLC has partnered with organizations across Lorain County to complete volunteer opportunities benefiting the community. This annual opportunity continues to grow in impact and involvement with 18 projects scheduled for this year with opportunities to engage over 150 volunteers.
Projects include construction and painting projects, youth engagement, a job readiness fair, a community-wide family field day and more. Family-friendly and youth opportunities are available.
Volunteers can sign up by visiting www.handsonneo.org/loraincountyvolunteerconnection or by calling 440-277-6530. No Orientation is required for any Week of Caring projects. The deadline to register is Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014.
The projects are managed by the Lorain County Volunteer Connection, a strategic partnership between HandsOn Northeast Ohio and UWGLC that strives to offer individuals with the platform for action while providing non-profit organizations with a vehicle to further their missions. The Lorain County Volunteer Connection is made possible through the support of the Community Foundation of Lorain County and The Nord Family Foundation.
