$2.5 Million for LCCC announced

State Rep. Matt Lundy (D-Elyria) has announced that Lorain County Community College is one of six community colleges across the state that will receive a total of $16 million in grant funds to expand and develop campus facilities in order to improve operations and capacity to serve students. The funds will also be used to provide workforce development education and training programs.

These funds will continue to allow Lorain County Community College to invest in the future,” said Rep. Lundy. “Lorain County residents, the college, and its students will undoubtedly benefit from the investments made in workforce needs and development. Students will be better positioned for career advancement and are sure to reap the benefits of a strengthened local economy.”

Lorain County Community College plans to use the $2.5 million to build additional classroom and laboratory space to create an Advanced Digital Manufacturing area. This space will enable students in 45 degrees and certificates in technology to better meet regional workforce needs. The improved facilities will strengthen the college’s capacity to educate and train in robotics, CNC Machining and Network Communications.

The grant funds, which were allocated during the state’s recent capital construction budget, will be used to build and renovate facilities, and to purchase equipment that will allow students to obtain the education and tools necessary to advance their careers in regional industries.
