ICE CREAM SOCIAL AND OUR ZOO TO YOU: Get up close and personal with live animals at Lorain Public Library System’s Main Library on Thursday, July 31 at 6:30 p.m. Our Zoo to You is back by popular demand. TWO HUNDRED YEARS OF SHIPBUILDING ON THE BLACK RIVER: Meet the Black River’s first shipbuilders at Lorain Public Library System’s Main Library. Matthew Weisman from the Lorain Historical Society will be presenting a program at the library on Thursday, July 31 at 7 p.m. Come to relive the great industry in shipbuilding that was established here. From schooners, to steamboats, to the largest boats still sailing the lakes, shipbuilding on the Black River was second to none.
