Proceeds from the Race4Justice will help fund the Medical Legal Partnership for Children (MLPC) to serve more children and families. The MLPC, a project of ABLE, integrates legal assistance as a vital component of patient care. The MLPC allows medical providers to address the underlying causes of medical conditions, such as lack of access to food, a moldy apartment, the lack of special education services, and poverty.
Through the MLPC’s services, doctors and lawyers work together to identify legal and social issues which negatively impact child health and well-being, and address these issues through individual and systemic advocacy.
Registration is currently open at www.Race4Justice.org. The registration fee is $25. All registrants will receive a t-shirt. Check-in for the race begins at 8:00 a.m. at the Center for Equal Justice at 525 Jefferson Avenue in downtown Toledo, directly across from the Huntington Center at Jefferson and Huron streets.
There will be a dedicated course throughout downtown Streets and along the river with police escorts at all intersections. Snacks and refreshments will be waiting at the finish line, and prizes will be given to the winners of each age bracket.
