Brown, a ceramics student at Bowling Green State University, will travel to China to visit the country’s museums and participate in a pottery workshop in the city of Jingdezhen under the tutelage of Chinese ceramicists.
Ms. Giovannucci will tour Italy to study the collections of anatomical paintings at the Marciana Library and the anatomical wax models in La Specola Museum. The local artist teaches anatomy and figure drawing classes at the Art Supply Depo.
“This year we had an impressive pool of applicants to choose from,” said Mike Deetsch, the Museum’s assistant director of education and a member of the Palmer Scholarship selection committee. “But the unique nature of Wesley’s and Jennifer’s projects stood out to us.”
Every year, the Palmer Scholarship is awarded to Northwest Ohio residents interested in traveling domestically or abroad to experience art, and can be used to cover the cost of airfare, hotel and food expenses.
It is one of many scholarships awarded by the Museum. Scholarships for TMA art classes for children and adults are available to provide art education to those who might not otherwise be able to participate and to encourage artistically gifted individuals.
