Pre-register today for Cuyahoga County Public Library’s 2014 Summer Reading Club

Parma, May 1, 2014: County residents of all ages are invited to pre-register for Cuyahoga County Public Library’s (CCPL) 2014 Summer Reading Club.
 

WHAT: Registered participants track their reading to earn prize raffle entries for tickets to special author events. Beginning Saturday, June 7^th, participants may track their reading online at www.ccplsummerreading.org or on printed Summer Reading Club tracking cards which will be available at all 27 CCPL branches and its MetroHealth Service Point. Raffle prizes include:

• Two tickets to see author/illustrator Marc Brown, creator of the popular Arthur books and PBS television series for students in grades K - 3, in the CCPL Parma-Snow Branch Auditorium, located at 2121 Snow Road in Parma. Date and time are TBD.

• Two tickets to see Jennifer Holm, creator of the Squish and Babymouse book series for students in grades 4 – 8, in the CCPL Parma-Snow Branch Auditorium. Date and time are TBD.

• Two tickets to see Jay Asher, author of the popular books 13 Reasons Why and The Future of Us for students in grades 9 – 12, in the CCPL Parma-Snow Branch Auditorium. Date and time are TBD.

• Two tickets to a 2014-15 William N. Skirball Writers Center Stage Series event. Date and time are TBD.

WHEN: Pre-registration begins Thursday, May 1, 2014. The 2014 Summer Reading Club officially begins on Saturday, June 7^th and runs through Saturday, August 16^th. 

WHERE: Pre-register online at www.ccplsummerreading.org, or at any CCPL branch or CCPL’s MetroHealth Service Point.

WHY: Students who are not engaged in active learning during the summer months may experience loss of learning through a phenomenon commonly referred to “summer slide.” But by participating in enriching summer activities, like CCPL’s Summer Reading Club, students can actually get a running start into the new school year.

Registration Prize: Participants who register for the 2014 Summer Reading Club online at www.ccplsummerreading.org will be eligible for a registration prize, while supplies last. Registration prizes will be available for pick up at all CCPL branches beginning Saturday, June 7^th.
