Area Office on Aging, WGTE and partners seek solutions to end Senior Hunger
Seeking Solutions to Senior Hunger, a collaborative effort of the Area Office on Aging, WGTE Public Media and its community partners, launches on Thursday, April 24, 2014 with a live Town Hall at 8:00 p.m. on WGTE TV.
Joining the Area Office on Aging and WGTE in this year-long effort are ProMedica; Buckeye Community Health Plan, The Andersons Charitable Foundation, Mobile Meals of Greater Toledo, and Simply EZ Meals.
Seeking Solutions to Senior Hunger is comprised of a comprehensive public information campaign through TV, radio, print and the web, three live Town Hall television programs on WGTE TV; community events and a website with resources for seniors and their families at www.seniorhungersolutions.org.
The first live, interactive Town Hall on April 24 will be moderated by Area Office on Aging Board Member and veteran broadcast journalist, Bill Harris. A panel of experts will define the problem and causes of senior hunger and offer solutions. A live studio audience and viewers watching at home and online will be able to call or email questions for the panel.
"With over 12,000 older northwest Ohioans struggling to get enough food, senior hunger and food insecurity are big problems in our community," said Area Office on Aging President/CEO, Mrs. Billie Johnson.
