March 31, 2014: The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) is offering a pop-up version of its acclaimed Inside|Out program, which brings high-quality reproductions of masterpieces from the DIA’s collection to the streets and parks of metro Detroit.
The pop-up version, available this spring and summer, allows communities to display the reproductions from one to four weeks, as opposed to the 12 weeks required in the regular program.
The DIA would like to hear from city representatives, downtown development authorities, festival organizers and arts organizations interested in participating, according to Kathryn Dimond, DIA director of community relations. “We receive many requests from organizations and businesses that want to display the reproductions for a shorter period of time than three months,” said Dimond. “We want to accommodate their schedules so that Inside|Out will engage even more people with art in settings that are familiar to them.”
Interested communities should submit an application at http://www.dia.org/get-involved/community-outreach.aspx. The museum will fill requests based on availability. The DIA is able to offer Inside|Out this year thanks to support from tri-county residents, and there is no charge for installations in Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties. There is an installation fee for locations in other counties.

Hours and Admission: Museum hours are 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Tuesdays–Thursdays, 9 a.m.–10 p.m. Fridays, and 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. General admission (excludes ticketed exhibitions) is free for Wayne, Oakland and Macomb county residents and DIA members. For all others, $8 for adults, $6 for seniors ages 62+, $4 for ages 6–17.
