EMAIL FOR BEGINNERS
The price of postage stamps has recently gone up. Maybe now is a good time to learn how to email. Come to Email for Beginners at Lorain Public Library System’s Main Library on Monday, March 10 at 2:30 p.m. Participants will become familiar with email account setup and use. MONDAY MADNESS
Teens, mark your calendars for March 10 for Monday Madness. Starting at 5:30 p.m., sixth through 12th-graders are welcome to play games, enjoy snacks and more. Don’t miss the ridiculousness. YU-GI-OH! OPEN PLAY TIME
Get to Lorain Public Library System’s Main Library on Monday, March 10 at 5:30 p.m. for Yu-Gi-Oh! Open Play Time. Ernesto Hernandez will share his knowledge from regional and national tournaments. Open play time is for 8-year-olds to 18-year-olds. Bring your own deck of 40 cards minimum. Card trading is not allowed. WORD FOR BEGINNERS
Receive an introduction to Microsoft Office Word 2007 at Lorain Public Library System’s Main Library on Saturday, March 15 at 11 a.m. Participants will learn about the basics of typing and saving documents. They will also learn ways to format and print documents, and copy and paste techniques. Participants need to be comfortable using a mouse to attend this class. STORY TIMES
New story time sessions are starting the week of March 17 at Lorain Public Library System’s Main Library. Sign your child up and put them on the right track for early literacy skills. Families are invited to a magic show by magician and juggler Drip E. Learn how to download eBooks for free from the Lorain Public Library System. Come to eMedia class at the Main Library on Monday, March 24 at 2:30 p.m. The instructor will do some how-to demonstrations on popular devices that are now on the market. The class will also learn how to take advantage of other digital services offered through the library, such as music, magazines, movies and TV shows. GEN. QUINCY ADAMS GILLMORE – LORAIN’S FORGOTTEN GENERAL
On the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, learn the life story of Lorain’s own Maj. Gen. Quincy Adams Gillmore at Lorain Public Library System’s Main Library. Matthew Weisman from the Lorain Historical Society will present this local history program on Thursday, March 27 at 7 p.m. Relive Gillmore’s daring Civil War exploits and the large military campaigns he conducted during the Civil War. Learn about his early life and the great engineering feats made over his lifetime.
