January 2014

 

January 2014 – El Centro in collaboration with Oberlin College will be providing ESL classes for the month of January classes will be Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at El Centro 2800 Pearl Avenue, Lorain Ohio 44055.  There is no orientation required.  Class will have a pragmatic focus and be centered on medical and anatomical terminology, so as to provide participants with knowledge that they may use in routine medical visits.

 

January 16 El Centro Food Pantry – In collaboration with Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio – from 12-3-pm at El Centro 2800 Pearl Ave. Lorain, Ohio 44055.  Families are given one box of food on a first come first served basis-FREE- Photo ID required.  (This event occurs every third Thursday of each month at the same time)

 

January 21 - GED Orientation will be held from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Saint Josephs Community Center 205 West 20th Street Room 155, Lorain Ohio 44055.  Orientation is required in order to attend GED classes provided by LCCC at El Centro on Monday & Wednesday evenings. 

 

January 23 - ESOL Orientation will be from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at The Employment Network 42495 Northridge Rd Elyria, Ohio 44035. Orientation is required in order to attend ESOL classes provided by LCCC at El Centro on Monday & Wednesday evenings. 

 

January 24 - GED Orientation will be held from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Saint Josephs Community Center 205 West 20th Street Room 155, Lorain Ohio 44055.  Orientation is required in order to attend GED classes provided by LCCC at El Centro on Monday & Wednesday evenings. 

 

January 21 – April 15 - As part of the EITC Collation, El Centro will be providing free tax preparation on the following.  Every Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., every Saturday in February from 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Saturday March 8th and 15th from 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  You can contact El Centro directly to schedule an appointment or after January 20th you also may contact 211. We also will be accepting walk in’s on a first come first serve basis.  Other dates and times are available through other EITC Coalition agencies.
