December 17, 2013: The Board of Trustees of Toledo Community Foundation, Inc. recently awarded grants totaling $117,749 from its Community Funds and $16,000 from one restricted fund to ten area nonprofit organizations.
Grants from the Foundation’s unrestricted funds are considered two times annually, and are awarded only to nonprofit, charitable organizations. The next deadline for receipt of proposals in the Foundation office is January 15, 2014. Toledo Community Foundation is the largest philanthropic organization in Northwest Ohio, committed to building healthy communities and promoting the responsible stewardship of resources.
Grants were recently awarded to the following organizations:
• Catholic Club – was awarded $10,000 to support the Polly Fox Graduating Teenage Moms program.
• Central City Ministries of Toledo – was awarded $10,000 to support the College Coach Program at Central City Ministries schools.
• Friendly Center, Inc. – was awarded $15,250 to support the Study Table program, which is designed to assist adults successfully obtain their high school equivalency degree (GED).
• Imagination Station – was awarded $45,020 to support the expansion of the volunteer and community involvement program.
• PROPEL, Inc. – was awarded $12,500 to support the Arab-American Youth Mentoring Program.
• The Foundation Center / Cleveland – was awarded $3,500 to support programming in Northwest Ohio.
• The Hospital Council of Northwest Ohio – was awarded $10,000 to support the 2014 Lucas County Health Needs Assessment.
• Toledo Ballet Association, Inc. – was awarded $2,661 to support the International Boxing Club dance project.
• Water for Ishmael – was awarded $8,818 to support the West Toledo English as a Second Language program.
The Board of Trustees of Toledo Community Foundation, Inc. also recently awarded $16,000 from The Fund for Islamic Understanding, Education and Dialog to support The University of Toledo Foundation’s Center for Religious Understanding.
