Mayor-Elect Collins’ transition team holds first meeting
Independent D. Michael Collins, elected as the next mayor for the City of Toledo on November 5, 2013, has announced the formation of his transition team, its director, and the date for the team’s first meeting. Collins’s term begins January 2, 2014.
Collins says Bob Reinbolt will serve as the director of his transition team. Reinbolt, who has a consulting business in Toledo, was an advisor to Collins during the campaign and had served as chief of staff for former Toledo mayor Carty Finkbeiner.

The first transition team meeting was held Saturday, November 16, at The Maritime Academy of Toledo, 803 Water St. “This first gathering will be very organizational in nature and I doubt if we will have any discussion on cabinet positions for Mr. Collins’ administration,” said Reinbolt. “We will have welcoming remarks from Mr. Collins; introductions of those in attendance; an overview of what is expected of the transition team; a review of Mr. Collins’s platform; committee assignments; development of a time frame to issue reports; and breakout sessions for the various committees.”
Transition team committees include: Labor Relations—chaired by Toledo City Councilman George Sarantou; Neighborhood & Safety---chaired by Tom Kroma; Business Development-- Chaired by Patrick Kenney; Parks, Recreation, and Urban Beautification—chaired by William Franklin; and Media Relations & Special Events—chaired by Matt Zaleski.
Co-chairs for the transition team include: Joan Uhl Browne, former Toledo mayor Carty Finkbeiner, former Toledo mayor Jack Ford, Patrick Kenney, George Tucker, Baldemar Velásquez, and Ray Wood.
