The Toledo Zoo visits Imagination Station for Animal Grossology
On Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, from noon to 4 p.m., the Toledo Zoo visited Imagination Station to showcase the gross bodily functions of animals. Visitors can see gross animals, dissect owl pellets and examine different kinds of animal poo. A Toledo Zoo representative was on hand to answer animal questions, accompanied by numerous animals—guests learned why animals need gross functions in order to survive.

This event is inspired by Grossology: The (Impolite) Science of the Human Body at Imagination Station now through January 5, 2014. Grossology is a collaboration between Science World, Advanced Exhibits and Grossology author Sylvia Branzei. In the exhibition, guests can take a “Tour du Nose” to explore 10 nasal features, climb on a wall of skin and much more. Grossology is sponsored by the Ohio Lottery.
The Toledo Zoo is committed to inspiring others to join in caring for animals and conserving the natural world. As part of that mission, The Toledo Zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), a leader in global wildlife conservation. AZA member institutions are dedicated to providing excellent care for animals, a great experience for visitors and a better future for all living things.
According to organizers, “Imagination Station, Toledo’s hands-on science center, is a vital non-profit organization that is an integral part of Toledo’s economic, educational and social landscape. With hundreds of hands-on exhibits and demonstrations, Imagination Station delivers a multi-sensory experience that’s as fun as it is educational.
