Three neighborhood organizations to host Mayoral Forum
The Arlington Neighborhood Association (ANA), Burroughs Neighborhood Organization (BNO) and Highland Heights Neighborhood Association (HHNA) have banded together as the South Toledo Neighborhood Alliance (STNA) to hold their first mayoral forum scheduled for Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the Burroughs Elementary School gymnasium – 2420 South Ave., Toledo.
STNA will ask both candidates to specifically commit services and resources for their neighborhoods. STNA believes that the next mayor will need the votes from these neighborhoods in order to win the 2013 mayoral election.
The neighbors in STNA have been collaborating for the past few years identifying common concerns regarding safety, housing, infrastructure, parks and other related issues since some of the boundaries abut or overlap.
STNA also recently realized that their boundaries cover Wards 15, 16 and part of 17 which totals nearly 19,000 registered voters. By asking for specific pledges and getting specific yes or no pledges from the mayoral candidates, STNA is confident that this forum will be hard-hitting and unlike most other candidates’ forums in the city of Toledo.
“It’s very important that neighborhoods like those in the South Toledo Neighborhood Alliance remain strong and viable for the city of Toledo to continue to be a great place to live,” said Patti Foley, a resident living in the STNA community.
