As part of the program, Latino undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty and staff, as well as the Latino Student Union and Latino fraternities and sororities are encouraged to come and speak to the high school students. Students who will attend “El Encuentro” will leave the program with a greater understanding of Bowling Green State University and the multicultural resources the University has to offer.
According to Gabe Lomeli, Senior Admissions Counselor, “The date for this program has been set to take place during Hispanic/Latino Heritage Month. This will be important so that the students have an opportunity to take part in a cultural program that will be coordinated by the Latino Student Union in recognition and celebration of the month.
“We have specifically chosen both the Detroit and Cleveland areas because both cities are highly represented in our current student population and have large populations of Latino students.”
