Award-winning Children’s Zoo Open Year-round

Nature's Neighborhood is the Toledo Zoo’s award-winning, 100 percent explore-able children’s zoo. But unlike many children’s zoos, it's open year-round.

Indoor facilities offer a safe, fun place for kids to learn and play. Whether young visitors build a giant bird nest near the Zoo’s colorful birds, don a bee costume and climb inside a kid-sized honeycomb or check out leaf-cutter ants, each visit is different. Keepers and educators also offer opportunities for visitors to get up close to several animal friends.

Jumpin’ Junction lets young visitors build everything they’ve learned into fun movies. The youngest visitors can participate in activities, too, from a waterless play pond to always-changing themes in The Workshop.

These are just some of the reasons the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), at its 2011 conference, gave Nature’s Neighborhood top honors in exhibit design.

For more information, including the Zoo’s other educational programs for families, school groups and more, visit toledozoo.org.
