Henry Ford Community College to host Career Expo Oct. 18

Sept. 12, 2013, Dearborn: The Henry Ford Community College (HFCC) Office of Career Services will host the second annual Career Expo Friday, Oct. 18, in the Student and Culinary Arts Center on the main campus. The College seeks employers to attend and is offering sponsorship options.

According to Chad Austin, HFCC Career Services officer, the goal is to have 120 employers attend the Career Expo, which is free and open to the public in addition to HFCC students. To date, more than 44 employers have confirmed their attendance at the Career Expo.

Some of those employers that will attend include the following: The Dearborn Police Dept.; United Parcel Service (UPS); Speedway; Guardian Alarm; Ft. Lauderdale (FL) Police Dept.; Bankers Life and Casualty Co.; Central Transport; eFund Insurance; Rapids Response EMS; Jacob’s Technology; Detroit Score; and Michigan Works.

Employers can participate in the morning session, which is from 9 a.m. to noon or the afternoon session, which is from 2 to 5 p.m. Each session is $50. Many employers are participating in both sessions, said Austin.

To receive priority status, employers need to register by 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4 at the following link: https://hfcc-csm.symplicity.com/employers/. HFCC will process registrations on a first-come/first-served basis. Space is limited and is expected to fill quickly.

Sponsorship packages for employers are an additional $150. Employers will have their company name/logo on promotional materials and announcements, as well as a prime table location. To date, Career Expo’s principal sponsors are Eisenhower Center and Reliance One.

“HFCC programs and students are sought after by employers in a wide variety of areas. Employers know that if you graduate from a program here that you can jump right in and get to work for them,” said Austin.

“The HFCC 2013 Career Expo will provide employers the chance to get their message and employment opportunities out to the Dearborn and Detroit communities in a fun and exciting venue,” said Austin.
