OSU Extension is offering a Master Gardener Volunteer Program class
Ohio State University Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Program will be offering the Master Gardener Class again this year for anyone interested. Informational class will be held August 27, 2013 located at Toledo Botanical Garden, 5403 Elmer Dr, Toledo, Ohio Conference Center.

Continuing our efforts of being good horticultural stewards in our community, Master Gardener volunteers offer a variety of educational services and programs to Ohio residents. To become a Master Gardener volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to complete 50 hours of classroom training, (beginning February 4th, 2014 for 9 consecutive Tuesdays from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm located at the Toledo Botanical Garden Conference Center in Toledo, OH) and make a difference in your community by donating 50 hours of your time to service.
As a Master Gardener volunteer, you will learn about:
· Basic botany and plant physiology
· Soils and soil fertility
· Basic entomology
· Plant pathology
· Pest management
· Lawn care
· Perennials, annuals and bulbs
· Trees and shrubs
· Home vegetable and fruit production Backyard wildlife and more
In addition to learning about these important topics, you will be able to practice your skills through many volunteer opportunities. You will have exposure to information from current research and access to specialists at The Ohio State University.
