Council passes Resolution 410-13 honoring Roberto González
August 20, 2013: Toledo City Council passes a resolution honoring Roberto Donacio González (who passed away August 14, 2013 in Toledo, Ohio) by naming the corner of Broadway and Segur Streets as “Roberto D. González Corner.” In the photos are the city street sign along with various family members and U.S. Marine guard.

Roberto D. González, 66, passed peacefully on August 14, 2013, after putting up an impressive fight against a sudden illness. He was born in San Antonio, TX to the late Angela Franco and Roberto González on September 6, 1946. Roberto enjoyed growing up with sisters Teresa Monita, Lupe Castaño, and Anna Goodreau. He was chosen to play Sherlock Holmes in his grade school play.
Roberto enlisted in the U.S. Army and U.S. Marines throughout 1963-1970. He valued these years of learning and service. From Michigan, throughout Ohio, and then settling in Toledo in the 1980s, he began his life-long work being active in the Latino community. He was integral in the field work and operations of La Raza Unida, the Ohio Governor’s Migrant Affairs Committee, Maya Center, Guadalupe Center, and Lucas County Victim's Assistance. Roberto enjoyed fishing, grilling, reading and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter Leanna González, his former wife Patti Cruz, his sisters, many friends, and an extensive family.
