Middle Eastern group visiting Arab, Latino, and Motown museums

DEARBORN, July 15, 2013 (AP): The Arab-American National Museum is among the planned southeastern Michigan stops the week of July 15 for eight performing artists, students, and teachers from the Middle East.

Members of the delegation will stage a concert Wednesday during an event dubbed ``Power of Music'' at the Dearborn museum. Attendees also will have the opportunity to learn about the visitors from Algeria, Bahrain, Iraq, Morocco, Oman, Palestinian Territories, Saudi Arabia, and Sudan.

The group also plans to visit the Motown Historical Museum and Detroit Hispanic Development Corp.'s Urban Arts Academy.

The event is presented by the International Visitors Council of Detroit. It administers the U.S. State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program, which brings global participants to Detroit and elsewhere in the country.

The Middle Eastern group's destinations also include Washington, D.C., and St. Louis.
