League of Women Voters announces Non-Partisan Voter Guide to Detroit Elections Online Resource Available Now at VOTE411.ORG
The League of Women Voters’ Detroit Voter Service Team has announced that a free, non-partisan, online voter guide is available at VOTE411.org to assist Detroit voters in making informed decisions when they vote in the August 6th Primary election.
By visiting VOTE411.org, voters can read responses to questions posed to all of the candidates for Mayor, City Council, City Clerk and the Board of Police Commissioners.
VOTE411.org helps voters find their City Council district and their polling place, check voting hours and read tips about voting in Michigan. Voters need simple, helpful tools to navigate the voting process and election day, and VOTE411.org is the nation’s premiere, on-line election resource now available to Detroit voters.
Printable versions of the Detroit voter guides are now available on the League’s website. Visit www.lwvmi.org to download a printable voter guide specific to each of Detroit's seven new districts.
“These are pivotal times in Detroit and residents need accurate and complete information about the candidates' positions on key issues - in their own words, without bias or favoritism,” said Susan Smith, President of the League of Women Voters of Michigan. “With a large field of mayoral candidates and City Council members being elected by district for the first time, this could be a potentially confusing election. We know voters in Detroit want to be informed, motivated and empowered to vote in the upcoming primary and general elections,” she added.
