Arab American Culture traveling exhibition, performance at Main Library  

The Toledo-Lucas County Public Library in partnership with the Arab American National Museum (www.arabamericanmuseum.org) is providing an opportunity for our customers to learn more about the Arab American Culture. These programs, and a traveling exhibition are FREE and open to the public.

Join us from Wednesday, July 17 through Saturday, July 27 for a traveling exhibition under the title of An Understanding of Arab Americans and the Religions they Practice in the Wintergarden at Main Library, 325 Michigan Street. These displays portray the three monotheistic religions and their commonalities, and Arab American Muslim and Christian holidays and practices. The exhibition is open to the public during normal business hours.

On Wednesday, July 17 a presentation touching on what makes a country Arab will be in the McMaster Center at Main Library, 325 Michigan Street, from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. This presentation includes information on ethnic and religious diversity within the Arab World, what makes a country Arab, the differences between the Arab World and the Middle East, the history of Arab immigration to the United States and Arab American demographics.

Also on Wednesday, July 17 our Brown Bag Summer Concert Series is scheduled to showcase Raq the Casbah on the North Lawn of the Main Library, 325 Michigan Street, from 12:15-1:15 p.m. Raq the Casbah is a fresh, new, live band featuring a variety of instruments and belly dance. Their performances include upbeat Middle Eastern music, as well as various eclectic World music selections.
