The Avon Branch Library is hosting Book Buddies. Book Buddies is a program that pairs early readers with 6th through 12th grade students. Book Buddies read together at the Library.
Book Buddies allows Big and Little Buddies to experience the value and pleasure of reading in fun and engaging ways. The program runs on Mondays, July 15 through August 5. Book Buddies meet from 3 to 3:45 p.m. at the Avon Branch Library, 37485 Harvest Drive, Avon.
Through practice, Little Buddies’ reading skills will improve. Since it’s summer, this program will also help stave off learning loss while away from school. Kids will have a fun time playing games too.
Teens are needed to be Big Buddy volunteers to read with young kids at the Library. Sign up for Book Buddies and take part in contributing to children’s reading success.
A mandatory orientation session for Big Buddies is Monday, July 8 from 3 to 3:45 p.m. at the Avon Branch Library.
Big Buddies must commit to the entire Book Buddies program that meets every Monday at 3 p.m., July 15 through August 5.
