US Veterans Traveling Wall coming to Toledo
May 25, 2013: Veterans and active members of US-America’s armed services travel great distances and make great sacrifices to preserve and protect freedom and liberty. The American Veterans Traveling Tribute (AVTT) is a veteran-owned project committed to traveling the USA to honor, respect and remember those who served, and pay specific tribute to those who gave all.
The American Veterans Traveling Tribute will visit Toledo, OH from June 5-9, 2013 with the Traveling Wall. The Traveling Wall will arrive at Toledo Express Airport at 3pm on June 5, 2013. There will be a Motorcycle Escort starting at 3pm to accompany the Traveling Wall to International Park in East Toledo. Escorts are open to any and all willing participants.
The Traveling Wall will be available for viewing at International Park from noon on June 6th through 3pm on June 9th. It will be open 24 hours/day. There will be vintage vehicles on display as well as a Huey Helicopter on June 7th & 8th.
The Traveling Wall is an 80 percent scale version of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. Across its 360-foot length the wall contains every single name etched on the original. At its apex the memorial is an impressive eight-feet tall.
To kick off the event, there will be a Welcome Home Celebration and Honor Roll Call on June 5th at 7pm at Savage Hall on the University of Toledo campus. There is no charge.

Keeping alive the memories and continuing to honor men and women who laid their lives squarely in the path of those who would dare assail freedom is a daunting task. “The focus is celebrating the freedom purchased by men and women who sacrificed their lives,” said Don Allen, one of the AVTT organizers. “We are a tribute to all who stood up for America.” They served. They gave their lives for our freedom. We will not forget.
