Ramos is the first Member of House Democratic Leadership from Lorain County in over a decade, since the resignation of former Representative Dan Metelsky in 2001.
Representative Tracy Heard (D-Columbus) will replace current Minority Leader Armond Budish, who is term limited and considering seeking election in Cuyahoga County. Representative Debbie Phillips (D-Athens), will assume the number two slot replacing Assistant Minority Leader, Rep. Matt Szollosi, who is departing as part of the leadership team in order to pursue a position as Executive Director for the Affiliated Construction Trades of Ohio. Rep. Michael Ashford (D-Toledo) was chosen as Minority Whip.
