LCCC offers free Energy Fundamental Certificate
Students interested in learning the fundamentals of the energy industry can do so for free this summer through a pilot program at Lorain County Community College (LCCC).
The Get into Energy Program will be held from May 20 through July 30, 2013 at LCCC. Students who complete the program will earn a certificate of completion.
The program was developed by the Center for Energy in Workforce Development and a consortium of energy providers, such as Dominion, First Energy, Columbia Gas, Nisource, Duke, and more. These partners came together to develop a training program that would get individuals acquainted to the energy industry and begin to feed the talent pipeline with individuals interested and ready to pursue training and careers in this field in order to help meet the workforce shortages that are projected in this industry due to an aging workforce over the next few years.
The program will run during daytime hours, beginning Monday, May 20 and run through Tuesday, July 30. Students must commit to completing the entire program. Seating is limited.
