Anita López: BOR processing now on line in Lucas County
March 21, 2013: Lucas County Auditor Anita López has announced the achievement of Lucas County as being the first county in the State of Ohio to allow e-filing for the Board of Revision (BOR), with filings having a deadline of April 1st, 2013, that is quickly approaching.
The Lucas County Auditor’s Office has received approval from the State of Ohio, Department of Taxation which will allow property owners in Lucas County to submit their value complaints via e-mail. The BOR has typically only been able to accept applications that have been submitted via traditional mail or hand delivered to the Auditor’s Office. Now, citizens can submit either a PDF or JPEG version of their complaint to [email protected]
Forms must be fully completed before being emailed, including being notarized. The Board of Revision will accept e-filed applications until the April 1st, 2013 deadline at 5:00 p.m. After 5:00 p.m. the e-mail service will be disabled and a bounce message will be sent. All rules for establishing jurisdiction of the BOR apply to complaints filed by e-mail.
The Board of Revision (BOR) reviews complaints citizens have with their property values. Homeowners who wish to challenge their 2012 property values as listed at the Auditor’s Office must do so before the April 1, 2013 deadline. López and her staff are available to assist homeowners in researching his or her property value and in completing the forms.
Homeowners may also research property values online via the Auditor’s Real Estate Information System (AREIS). Real estate values may also be obtained by calling the Auditor’s Education & Outreach Help Line at (419) 213-4406 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
