CLEVELAND, OH – Cleveland Public Library (CPL) is celebrating Lunar New Year and the Year of the Snake on Saturday, March 16th at Main Library, located at East 6th and Superior Ave. The festivities kick off at 10:00 a.m.
“Cleveland is fortunate to have such an array of rich and diverse cultures,” said Felton Thomas, Director of CPL. “Celebrating Lunar New Year is an excellent opportunity to explore the traditions of Cleveland’s Asian community while having fun for the whole family.”
The Lunar New Year celebration is a day-long celebration of fun and educational events for all ages. Highlights of the festivities include:
- Main Event Lunar New Year Program: A spectacular display of traditional Asian music and dance. Sample traditional Chinese cuisine prepared by Siam Cafe following the program.
- Library-wide Treasure Hunt: Kids can try out their sleuthing skills in a Library-wide treasure hunt focused on the Year of the Snake.
- Flower the Clown, Master Balloon Twister will travel throughout the Library entertaining children and adults alike.
- Chinese Calligraphy Demonstrations: Names printed in Chinese characters.
- Jungle Bob will be on hand with a variety of live reptiles and their friends.
- Lunar New Year Crafts and Storytime: Crafts and fun for the youngest readers in celebration of Lunar New Year.
