15 DPS students become Recycling Heroes while earning cash prizes

DETROIT, Feb. 5, 2013: Hoping to improve upon last year’s nearly 10 tons of outdated telephone directories collected, the fourth annual YP Project ReDirectory® phone book recycling campaign is underway with 15 Detroit Public Schools (DPS) participating. The campaign runs through March 31.
 

In 2012 Emerson Elementary-Middle School collected 3.21 tons to take home the first place prize of $500. The program is a combined effort of Detroit Public Schools (DPS), Green Living Science, Recycle Here!, and YP. A total of 9.9 tons of outdated directories was collected last year.

Prizes totaling $1,500 will be awarded to the top five schools by YP, the local search, media and advertising company which offers the Detroit YP Real Yellow PagesSM, the YP.comSM site, and the YPSM app. The school collecting the most outdated phone books will receive $500, followed by $400 for second place, $300 for third place, $200 for fourth place, and $100 for fifth place.
