15 DPS students become Recycling Heroes while earning cash prizes

DETROIT, Feb. 5, 2013: Hoping to improve upon last year’s nearly 10 tons of outdated telephone directories collected, the fourth annual YP Project ReDirectory^® phone book recycling campaign is underway with 15 Detroit Public Schools (DPS) participating. The campaign runs through March 31.
 

In 2012 Emerson Elementary-Middle School collected 3.21 tons to take home the first place prize of $500. The program is a combined effort of Detroit Public Schools (DPS), Green Living Science, Recycle Here!, and YP. A total of 9.9 tons of outdated directories was collected last year.

Prizes totaling $1,500 will be awarded to the top five schools by YP, the local search, media and advertising company which offers the Detroit YP Real Yellow Pages^SM, the YP.com^SM site, and the YP^SM app. The school collecting the most outdated phone books will receive $500, followed by $400 for second place, $300 for third place, $200 for fourth place, and $100 for fifth place.
