Statewide OH leaders plan to seek 2014 re-election

By ANN SANNER, Associated Press

COLUMBUS, January 31, 2013 (AP): Republicans in the statewide offices of auditor, treasurer, attorney general and secretary of state say they hope to remain on the job after 2014.

Auditor Dave Yost, Treasurer Josh Mandel, Attorney General Mike DeWine and Secretary of State Jon Husted say they will seek re-election for their offices next year.

The leaders made their comments Thursday during a legislative preview session for journalists organized by The Associated Press.

Republican Gov. John Kasich has already confirmed he intends to keep his position.

Republicans swept the statewide offices in 2010, just four years after voters punished their party with big losses after GOP scandals in Columbus and Washington. The victories gave the GOP a majority on the powerful apportionment board, which then redrew the state legislative districts.
