Elva Buenrostro Luda, puro talento de estilo latino
Elva Buenrostro Luda es una talentosa estilista de cabello, que nació y se crío en Ohio, y que continúa su carrera en este estado.
Descendiente de familia latina, sus padres vinieron de Texas a trabajar en las cosechas y se radicaron en la zona de Oregon, Ohio, donde tuvieron cuatro hijos.
Elva se refiere a su familia como típicamente tradicional, donde el alto nivel de respeto por sus mayores siempre fue la regla principal.
Así fue que durante sus años de escuela secundaria, ella siguió los pasos de su hermana mayor, Olga, quien era estilista de cabello y con quien trabajó por un período de cinco años. “Mi hermana fue mi modelo de mujer y estilista”. Tristemente, Olga perdió la batalla contra un tumor, y falleció a edad muy temprana.
La pérdida de su hermana tuvo un fuerte impacto en Elva, pero no se dio por vencida, sino que esto le dio fuerza para seguir adelante, y un toque de inspiración, y no se ha detenido desde entonces. Hoy ella atesora una carrera de más veinte años; con un título de la Escuela Vocacional de Clay.
Tres años atrás, Elva se unió al grupo de estilistas de Ahava Spa and Wellness Center, ubicado en la zona pintoresca de Warehouse de Toledo.
Aquí, además de ofrecer cortes de cabello, peinados, y color, ella también desempeña funciones de cosmetóloga. “Me da mucho gusto trabajar con mis clientes, y ver que disfrutan al ver el resultado”, dijo.
Elva nunca se hubiera imaginado cuando llegó a Ahava que sería parte del programa “Las Amistades Apreciadas de Ahava” (de inglés: Cherished Friends of Ahava). Este programa, cada martes, ofrece a pacientes y sobrevivientes de cáncer la oportunidad de recibir servicios en un ambiente privado y sensible a sus necesidades. “Es algo que sé que mi hermana hubiera disfrutado”, dijo.
Algo que Elva no puede negar, son sus raíces, ya que le encanta la tradición de las “Quinceañeras” y todo lo que esto implica. Le es un gusto hacer los peinados a las jovencitas, y los estilos especiales para la ceremonia tan esperada por las niñas latinas. “Todavía me recuerdo de mis épocas de fiestas” recordó riendo.

Elva Buenrostro Luda, is a talented hair stylist, who was born and raised in Ohio. Her parents moved from Texas to work in the fields en el norte, and they re-located in the Oregon, Ohio area, where they raised four children.
Elva refers to her family as a typical traditional Latino family, with a great deal of respect for her elders.
While in high school, she followed the steps of her oldest sister, Olga, who was a hair stylist also and with whom Elva worked for five years. “My sister was my role model, as a woman and as a hairstylist.” Sadly, Olga lost her battle against a tumor, and passed away at an early age.
The loss of her sister made a big impact on Elva, but she didn’t give up; on the contrary, this gave her the strength to move forward, with more inspiration. Today, she treasures a career of twenty years, with a degree from Clay Vocational School.
Three years ago, Elva became part of the Ahava Spa and Wellness Center team, located in the Warehouse District of Toledo, Ohio.
She offers haircuts, styles, color and also, relaxing facial. “I like to work with my customers and see that they enjoy the results,” she said.
But Elva never imagined when she joined Ahava that she would become part of the “Cherish Friends of Ahava.” This program offers cancer patients the opportunity to receive services in a private setting and sensitive to their needs. “I know it is something that my sister would have wanted,” she stated.
Something that Elva can’t deny are her roots, since she likes the “Quinceañera” traditions. She enjoys achieving the styles for the young ladies and the unique hairdos for the ceremony. “I still remember the parties from my times,” she recalled with a smile.
