Henry Ford Community College Foundation recognizes MemberFocus Community Credit Union as “Distinguished Volunteer”
November 21, 2012, Dearborn: The Henry Ford Community College (HFCC) Foundation recently recognized MemberFocus Community Credit Union in Dearborn as the Foundation’s “Distinguished Volunteer” during the 2012 National Philanthropy Day (NPD) observance on Nov. 14.

MemberFocus – which was among 70 individuals, companies and organizations honored for their charitable work – was recognized for its continuing support of the College and its students. For the past three years, MemberFocus has served as the presenting sponsor for the HFCC Mike Adray Memorial Golf Tournament, which is the College’s largest fundraising event. This year, the tournament raised approximately $84,000 for scholarships for HFCC students. Additionally, MemberFocus funds the MemberFocus Community Credit Union Scholarship, which assists four HFCC students on an annual basis.
Representing MemberFocus at the NPD event were Jon Elliott, president and CEO of MemberFocus; Christine Clark, MemberFocus marketing director; and William Harvey, a member of the MemberFocus Board of Directors. Previous Distinguished Volunteers honored by the HFCC Foundation include Gary Kuhlman, an HFCC alumnus, of Park Place Banquet & Catering in Dearborn; The Adray Foundation; and Karl Fava, CPA, with Business Financial Consultants, P.C. in Dearborn.
“The Foundation was pleased to recognize everything that MemberFocus does for our students with this honor. The Credit Union is committed to the College and our community, and we were honored to have it honored as the Foundation’s Distinguished Volunteer for 2012,” said John J. Lewandowski, HFCC executive director for Development.
Accompanying the MemberFocus representatives to the NPD event were Lewandowski, Fava, Kuhlman, HFCC President Dr. Gail Mee, Vice President/Controller Marjorie C. Swan, Foundation Directors Millie Elston and Judy Costigan.
The Mission of the HFCC Foundation isto create awareness and generate support for Henry Ford Community College by building sustainable relationships with such constituencies as business, civic and community leaders; alumni; corporate educational partners and philanthropic foundations; and individuals of influence and affluence, to encourage investment in and advocacy for the College.
