Just the Ticket: A Herzing-Toledo “How-To”
Herzing University-Toledo is hosting a career workshop for dozens of students to brush up on their skill sets in job interviewing and other areas to prepare them for the real thing. According to a press release of Herzing-Toledo, “students have to “earn” their way to an on-campus job fair the following Friday.”
Students who attend meet with over a dozen employment service experts to critique their interviewing skill set. Various stations throughout campus offer mock-interviews, resume critiques, and online employment database registration assistance.
This day -long workshop is free and focuses on developing professional demeanor, networking, interviewing techniques, resume review and other critical competencies necessary to enter a very competitive job market. Several trainers from Ohio Means Jobs and other professionals are conducting workshops in conjunction with Herzing University-Toledo Career Development/ Student Services and the Business Management Department.
Students who hone their skills enough to pass “muster” with their critiques earn a “golden ticket” (a la Willy Wonka) to a follow-up, on-campus job fair the next week. Those students can use their “golden ticket” to meet with employers from the health, business, and technology fields.
