Latino Sunset Festival Sunday, September 30th at Lakeview Park

 

LORAIN:  The Latino Sunset Festival will be held Sunday, September 30, 2012, from 12 noon to 8 p.m., at Lorain’s Lakeview Park located at 1800 West Erie Avenue.

 

Featuring Sammy De León y Su Orchestra playing salsa and Latin jazz as well as from Perú recording artist Enrique Infante now residing in Columbus, Ohio.

 

There will be performances by dancers from Alma de México, Puerto Rican Home of Lorain and Julia de Burgos of Cleveland. There will be an art show of Latino artists, Mexican and Puerto Rican food, family fun including face painting and free salsa and merengüe dance lessons.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION on Enrique Infante: Enrique Infante was born in Lima, Perú on April 23rd, 1972.  He is a singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist. He co-wrote the music for a Children's theater Play “El Arbol de la Huerta Perdida” (‘The Tree of the lost Orchard’) on 1995 and a year later he toured to Europe with “Los Mojarras” a famous Peruvian fusion band that recorded the soundtrack for a movie "Anda Corre y Vuela"

 

In the late 1990’s he played guitar for a folk-Andean-fusion band named “Pukakuntur” (‘Red Condor’ in the native Inca language, Quechua). By the end of the same year he moved to Columbus. In 2004, he formed his new project “Dejavu,” a Latin Fusion Rhythms band which lead to the recording of his first album “Abriendo Caminos” in 2006 in Lima, Perú. That CD was released at the Columbus Music Hall on November 11th of the same year.

 

Within the next few years, Infante was dedicated to promote his music with several concerts in United States, México and Perú, and paying tribute to many Latin-American artists. In 2010 he received el “Premio Orgullo Peruano” (‘Peruvian Pride Award’) as a successful artist living outside Perú. His song “Colors of Columbus” was selected as one of the winners for the ‘200Columbus In Song Contest,’ in celebration of Columbus Bicentennial. In May 5th 2012, Infante released his second album “Canciones Ajenas.”

 

Enrique Infante has been a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) since 2007. He is also a member  of NARAS (National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences) and LARAS (Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences), which produces the Grammy and the Latin Grammy Awards. Enrique Infante is a feature performer at this year’s Hispanic Heritage Month Latino Sunset Festival on September 30, 2012 at Lakeview Park in Lorain, Ohio.
