Health and the faith-based community, MetroHealth event to bridge the gap
Cleveland: Faith plays an important role in the lives of many Ohioans and, unfortunately, so does ill health. MetroHealth is helping to bridge the gap between faith and health care through its inaugural faith-based health event.
MetroHealth and the Hispanic Health Committee are sponsoring Alpha & Omega Church Missionary Revival “Tu TEMPLO es Sagrado” event on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m at US Bank Parking Lot, located on the corner of West 25th and Clark Ave.
The goal is to help the faith-based community take care of their health by empowering them with the information, tools and support they need to take charge of their health and improve their health care behavior. The health fair provides free blood pressure, glucose, BMI, sickle cell and HIV health screenings. All are welcome to attend. This event will also help educate community health care workers on the importance of cultural sensitivity, which plays a big role in reducing or eliminating Latino health disparities.
Spirituality and religious coping are salient factors in maintaining health and longevity, in well-being during chronic and terminal illnesses, in recovery from traumatic stress, and in positive coping during bereavement.
