The Ohio Latino Health Summit
Columbus: The Ohio Latino Health Summit on August 3, 2012, co-sponsored by OCHLA, features a lunch-hour keynote speech by Ms. Lina Choudhry Rashid, MHM, External Outreach Specialist, US Dept. of Health & Human Services.

Ms. Rashid currently works as a Regional Outreach Specialist for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS) Regional Director’s Office. She serves as the lead liaison at HHS for all policy, communication, and related issues in Region V (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin). Her primary task is to work with government and non-governmental stakeholders to implement the Affordable Care Act across the Region.
Prior to joining HHS, Lina served in Congress as a Legislative Assistant for Rep. Betty McCollum from Minnesota between 2008 and 2010. Her responsibilities included serving as the liaison for the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Appropriations Subcommittee, the Budget Committee, and the Congressional Global Health Caucus. Her portfolio also included issues related to health care, human services, social security, women's issues, and global health. She played an important role in the passage of the new health care reform law, helping to spearhead the formation of the Quality Care Coalition to reform the Medicare payment structure.
Prior to that, she served as a legislative assistant for Congressman Joe Sestak from Pennsylvania. She also worked at the National Academy of Social Insurance (NASI) and the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC). She received her B.S. from the University of Pittsburgh and Masters in Health Management from Duquesne University.
