The upcoming week is shaping up to be an exciting time for the Latino community in Northeast Ohio . On Friday, July 6th the City of Lorain , in conjunction with Latino Magazine, Lorain County Ironmen, Lorain is PRO Baseball, and Nationwide Insurance, present the First Annual Roberto Clemente Night at the beautiful Pipe Yard Stadium – powered by FirstEnergy Solutions! The event kicks-off with a Latin/Jazz concert by Ray Carrion and the Latin All Stars, featuring Sammy DeLeón, at 5:30 p.m., followed by a game between the Lorain County Ironmen and the Richmond River Rats of the prestigious Prospect League.
Roberto Clemente’s son, Roberto Jr, will make a special appearance for this event. Additionally, in honor of the humanitarian efforts of Roberto Clemente, the recipient of the inaugural Roberto Clemente Humanitarian Award will be Mr. Luis Gomez. Please join us for this special event.
On Saturday, July 7th we have another special event. The First Annual “El Sabor Latino Community Festival” will take place at the Black River Landing festival site in downtown Lorain from 4-10pm. Please join us and enjoy the best in Latin music, art, and culture. The event is free to the public and will include live music, food, carnival for kids, riverboat tours, and much more. Flying in from California will be Ray Carrion and some members of his Europa Band – a Santana tribute band which features several of the original Santana members. Also playing will be Sammy DeLeon and Justo Sabori.
