Community will gather together tomorrow to beautify downtown Lorain

LORAIN: (June 16, 2012): Volunteers are joining forces tomorrow, Saturday, June 16, to give Broadway Avenue in Lorain a facelift and reclaim Lorain.

Hundreds of volunteers, dozens of companies and city officials are going to beautify downtown Lorain, from West 21st and Broadway Avenue to West Erie Avenue near the lakefront.

Volunteers will be fixing up, removing grafiti and painting several buildings downtown, and pulling weeds and planting flowers, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Lowes and Home Depot are donating paint for volunteers. Several local nonprofits will be helping.

The Lorain Pioneers Youth Football members will be participating also.

The Reclaim Lorain event leads to the upcoming summer events: Lorain International Festival, Port Fest and the Saturday night concert series at the Black River Landing.
