Wood County residents given opportunity to set Health-Related priorities

April 23, 2012: Residents in Wood County are being given an opportunity to help local organizations set health-related priorities for the near future.  800 randomly selected Wood County residents recently received the 2012 Wood County Health Survey in the mail.

The survey was created by the Wood County Health Partners, a local committee of organizations including Wood County Health District, Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green State University, and many others.  The survey takes only 20 minutes to fill out, is completely anonymous, and contains a wide variety of questions on topics as varied as Health Care Coverage, Women’s Health, and Quality of Life.

Wood County Health Department and all of the Wood County Health Partners will use the results of the survey to help determine priorities for health-related funding and programs throughout Wood County.

The Wood County Health Partners are very grateful that some residents who received the survey have already filled it out and sent it back using the postage-paid envelope included with the survey packet.  Unfortunately, many have not yet returned the completed survey and more responses are needed to give a full picture of the health-related needs of Wood County.

In an effort to remind the Wood County residents who have received the survey to complete and return it, additional identical surveys have been sent to the same original group of 800 randomly selected residents.  Each selected resident has received the survey three times over the past several weeks.  If you have already completed the survey and mailed it in, please disregard the additional mailings.  Due to the anonymity of responses The Wood County Health Partners have no way of identifying which of the 800 residents has returned the survey, so even those who have already filled out the survey received reminders.

If you have received the 2012 Wood County Health Survey in the mail, but have not yet completed it, please take a few minutes to fill it out and return it. The results of this survey will allow for a local community-based focal point in setting health-related priorities in Wood County and will help ensure that local funding is spent wisely.

The mission of the Wood County Health District is to take the initiative to facilitate opportunities for Wood County residents to lead healthy lives.  Created in 1920, the Wood County Health District today serves more than 120,000 Wood County residents.
