Cook up a New Career with LCCC’s New Culinary Arts Program

Students may now cook up a career in Culinary Arts at Lorain County Community College. Students may enroll now for fall 2012 classes in the new Associate of Applied Business – Culinary Arts degree.

A free information session about the program will be held at 6 p.m., Monday, April 23, 2012, in the Spitzer Conference Center.

The program covers a variety of subjects, including food-service management, purchasing, human resources, food and beverage management, and even a course on managing your career. Culinary labs will be held in the new LCCC Culinary and Convergent Digital Arts facility on the LCCC main campus, which will open in fall 2012. The facility will include three teaching kitchens, a dining lab, multi-use spaces and much more.

“The focus of the program is on cooking skills,” says Eric Petrus, program director and executive chef at LCCC, “but it also gives students a foundation for other careers in the field.  Food-service establishments need people who know how to order food and supplies, set work schedules and ensure that the business runs efficiently.”
