Kids Fishing Day at Pearson March 31

The lake at Pearson Metropark in Oregon will again be stocked with young rainbow trout from the Ohio Division of Wildlife hatchery, and Metroparks is reserving the first day of fishing for children on Saturday, March 31.

On that day, only fishermen 16 and under will be permitted to fish. Park rangers will be there throughout the day to lend a hand and give advice, and some bait will be provided. Kids need to bring their own fishing poles.

The Division of Wildlife this spring is releasing more than 96,000 rainbow trout, each measuring 10- to 13-inches long, into 61 Ohio lakes and ponds to enhance fishing opportunities.

The daily catch limit for rainbow trout from inland lakes and ponds is five fish.

Pearson Lake is normally open to all fishermen. State licensing requirements apply.
