TRI-C hosts skilled trades awareness day, Feb. 22
Cuyahoga Community College is partnering with the Union Construction Industry Partnership and Construction Employers Association to host a Construction Skilled Trades Awareness Day. The free event is open to the public and will be held on Wed., Feb. 22, 2012, from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. at Corporate College, 4400 Richmond Road in Warrensville Heights.

Attendees will learn about apprenticeship programs and fast-track training opportunities in the following skilled trades: bricklaying, carpentry, cement masonry, construction tending and hazardous material abatement, drywall finishing, electrical construction, floorlaying, glazing, ironworking, millwrighting, operating engineers, painting, sign and display, and teledata.
Skilled Trades Exhibitor Expo: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Meet representatives from the skilled trades locals, Construction Employers Association and apprentice program team members from Cuyahoga Community College to discuss career paths in construction skilled trades. Audience: High school community, general public, veterans, job placement professionals.
Question and Answer Sessions: 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Meet experts to answer questions about getting started in an apprenticeship program, funding for training, career opportunities, program requirements and more. Audience: High school community, general public, veterans, job placement professionals.
Career Pathways Breakout Sessions: 11 a.m. - Noon, 2 - 3 p.m. and 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. Experts from skilled trades locals, Construction Employers Association and Tri-C will provide overviews of apprenticeship programs and construction career pathways in Northeast Ohio. Audience: High school administrators and faculty, academic/guidance counselors, job placement professionals.
