Davion Meredith, a young martial artist

Davion Meredith is an example of positive attitude and strength at a young age. Davion, 7 years old, placed 1st place in a National Karate Tournament that was held in November of 2011 in Akron, Ohio.  He has being practicing karate for over a year, and this is his second national title.

Davion is strongly supported by his family; “I enjoy watching him practice; I see how happy he is,” said his grandfather, Mr. Costilla, who is constantly encouraging this talented martial artist.

Davion trains with Sensei Geelani at the Japan Karate Academy in Toledo. “He is fun to work with. Very focus,” commented Geelani. Together they offered a presentation at L. Hollingworth School for the Talented & Gifted, where Davion attends school.

“The things he has learned through Karate have assisted him with being a great student, as well as a polite and respectful young man,” said Andrea Cutway, an administrative assistant at the school.

While Davion continues his martial arts career and study at Hollingworth, one of his favorite things to do is play with his cousin, who also comes and watches him practice.
