“John Corigliano's Circus Maximus combines the aural and visual senses to create a truly unique and engaging musical experience. With the combined forces of the TSO and BGSU’s Wind Symphony, this is an event you will not want to miss!” – Jennifer Kustec, BGSU Band member.
“As a senior at Bowling Green State University, I look forward to the honor of performing Circus Maximus with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra. The performance will be a thrilling experience where the audience is encircled by the musicians. John Corigliano intended to create the powerful feeling of being in the Circus Maximus of ancient Rome.” – Katie Pakizer, BGSU Band member.
“This piece is fun, unique, and different than any other wind ensemble piece that I have encountered in my years of study at BGSU. The piece starts off vigorously with on-stage percussion and 11 trumpets surrounding the audience signaling the opening of the work with fanfares at full volume. The preparation for this concert has been both engrossing and demanding, but being given the chance to perform with members of the Toledo Symphony is a great reward. This performance should not be missed!” – Lance Witty, BGSU Band member.
“It is exciting for us to team up with members of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra on the stages of Kobacker Hall and the Peristyle. The Circus Maximus by John Corigliano is a unique work of gargantuan proportions, with musical forces around the hall as well as on the stage. We look forward to the opportunity.” – Bruce Moss, Director of Bands for BGSU.
Tickets are available and start at $21. For more information call 419-246-8000 visit www.toledosymphony.com. These performances are presented by Fifth Third Bank with support from Hylant Group.
