Salsa, Soul presented by young professionals in Cleveland

On October 21, 2011, there was a celebration of community, unity, and life, as well as a wonderful bridge building initiative between the Latino community and the African-American community—Salsa & Soul was held at The Club at Key Center in Cleveland.

The event was an activity of The Society of Urban Professionals in Partnership with National Society of Hispanic MBA’s, National Black MBA’s Association, The Young Latino Network, National Society of Black Engineers and Black Singles Network.

It was co-chaired by Jacinda Walker from the Society of Urban Professionals, and Alex Vera, Chairman of the National Society of Hispanic MBAs.  Marisa C. Feliciano was a member of the leadership team representing the Young Latino Network.

The event united African-American and Latino professionals for an evening of Networking, dining, and dancing.  Featured were performances and dance by the Latin Soul Ballroom Dance Team and Robert Woods & the Millennium Dancers.

The event was a singular success attended by approximately 120 young professionals.  The highlight of the evening was salsa instruction and salsa dancing.

Organizers informed La Prensa that “this is the first of many events for the young professionals of the African-American and Latino communities.”
