LCCC’s Signature Series to Host Pianist Jenny Lin
Acclaimed pianist Jenny Lin will perform in a free concert at 7:30 p.m, Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Lorain County Community College’s Stocker Arts Center.
Lin’s performance is part of the Signature Series and is hosted by composer and LCCC Distinguished Visiting Professor Jeffrey Mumford. The concert is sponsored by LCCC’s arts and humanities division. Admission is free.
Lin is one of the most respected young pianists today, admired for her adventurous programming and charismatic stage presence. Her ability to combine classical and contemporary literature has brought her to the attention of international critics and audiences.
She is also one of the featured artists on "Speaking for Myself,” a film about Manhattan as seen through the eyes of eight contemporary artists by Pheasant Eye Productions and filmmaker Bert Shapiro.
Lin’s performance will include works by Shostakovich, Bach, Mumford, Kaminsky and Chopin.
The event will be the Eva Hornyak Memorial Concert for the 2011-2012 Signature Series season. Hornyak was a mentor to Mumford in the early stage of his career. The sister of the late Isaac Stern, Hornyak ran a major concert series at the University of Maryland and was one of the first to bring chamber music to that area. One concert per season is presented in her honor as part of the Signature Series.
