Latins United Club awards six scholarships

Latins United/Latinos Unidos awarded $500 scholarships to six students on Sunday, June 19, 2011—Richard Miller, Humberto G. Terán, Sarah Waxler, Thalia Pérez, William W. Wagner II, and Brittney Guerrero. Richard Atwater, president of Latins United, presented the checks.

The late Lucy Amparo Weaver is the founder of the Latins United Scholarship program.  Last April the club announced that six scholarships of $500 each would be awarded.  All scholarship applicants had a deadline of May 31, 2011. 

The scholarship committee consists of María Morales (Chairperson), Dolores Rodríguez, Mary Jane Flores, Dora Parker, Connie Rodríguez, and Richard Atwater, who met June 6, 2011 to chose the scholarship recipients from the many applicants received by the Toledo-based club.
